2020 Webinar: FMLA Certifications – A Step-by-Step Guide

The Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) has been around for 25 years, but employers still struggle with several administrative aspects of the law. Employers regularly report confusion around managing the certification process, which is the cornerstone of successful FMLA administration. Join us for a deep dive into FMLA certifications, and leave feeling confident in your abilities to navigate this crucial process!

Experts will guide attendees through several common challenges when evaluating various FMLA certifications. This session will explore considerations for the use of the Department of Labor’s model forms, parameters around the use of information from other benefit programs, and concerns for healthcare provider statements. You’ll leave with an understanding of what is necessary or can be requested for various qualifying events such as the employee’s own serious health condition (SHC), a family member’s SHC, bonding events, military exigency, and military caregiver leave.

This session will equip you to respond appropriately when the information provided is insufficient or incomplete to obtain the necessary detail. Then, once certified, we’ll walk through what considerations should be contemplated for recertification, such as excessive intermittent leave frequency and duration and/or absence patterns.

This webinar qualifies for the following CEUs: 1 ADMS, 1 CDMS, 1 CLMS, 1 PHR, and 1 SHRM
